Get your flu shot today
Dr. Gregory Whisman, Carelon Health’s Chief Medical Officer, shares reasons why everyone should get a flu shot.
Arm yourself with protection.
Each year, millions of people get sick from the flu. Getting a flu shot greatly lowers the chances that you’re one of them.
Reduce the risk of severe complications.
Even if you do get the flu after getting a flu shot, it’s often a milder case. You’re less likely to have serious complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis, or worsening chronic health conditions that may lead to a hospital stay.
Do it for yourself and others.
Getting a flu shot can help you protect others. Herd, or community, immunity means most of the population is vaccinated against flu. This lowers the entire community’s risk — especially for vulnerable groups such as babies, older people, pregnant women, and those living with chronic health conditions.
